As part of the technical fest Fugeniz’25, the Department of Civil Engineering at SNGCE organized an exciting and skill-driven event titled “Paper Titan”, a paper tower competition aiming to test the creativity, engineering intuition, and teamwork of the participants. The competition was held on 14/03/2025 in the W152, and it drew enthusiastic participation from students across various departments. The objective of the event was to design and construct the tallest free standing tower using only newspaper and minimal supplementary materials such as glue or tape, within a stipulated time frame of 1 hour. The challenge emphasized core civil engineering principles like structural stability, load distribution and material efficiency—all while encouraging innovation under constraints. Participants, working in teams, were given a fixed quantity of paper and a limited time to complete their structures. The towers were then evaluated based on the height stabiity and aesthetic appeal. The event was judged by Mr. Rajeshkumar R, Associate Professor from Mechanical Engineering Department. The competition provided a hands-on learning experience and also created an energetic and collaborative atmosphere. The success of 'Paper Titan' was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the event coordinator Mr.Akshay J (S8), and support from faculty and student volunteers. Winners were awarded certificates and cash prizes of Rs.1000 for first place and Rs. 500 for second place.
